EVERY COLOR TRAVELS AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT

2017

"Zajac works frequently with the given. His works are like lenses that focus attention and reflect what's there. In an almost analytic way, the artist researches the formal aspects of space, time and perceptionwith their constituting circumstances and marginal conditions, structures, and systems. His seemingly simple interventions address the idiosyncrasies of particular places or situations and in doing so, repeatedly put perception itself to the test. The strengh of his conceptually coherent and poetic interventions lies in their deliberate and conscious reserve. Sometimes the artist's subtle works are barely visible at first glance, or the actual matter at hand remains initially hidden. (...) Zajac has a preference for (temporal) spaces that open up beyond their borders and are also able to shake off the limitations of everyday perception: from the smallest nearby area to the cosmic dimensions of faraway worlds, from seemingly immovable time to the speed of light."
